Project Type: Industrial Electrical Design & Construct
Karratha Electrical Group (KEG), operating as Ausolar at the time, was engaged to undertake the electrical design and construction of the CORPS Earthmoving (formerly Karratha Earthmoving) industrial operations facility in Gap Ridge, Karratha.
The project involved developing a comprehensive electrical infrastructure network capable of supporting the site’s diverse industrial operations, including asphalt production, heavy vehicle maintenance, workshop facilities, administration buildings, fuel storage, truck washing and specialist processing equipment.
KEG delivered the electrical works from initial design and power distribution planning through to switchboard construction, underground reticulation, equipment installation, testing and commissioning.
Central to the project was an 800-amp-per-phase site main switchboard and associated distribution network, designed to supply multiple industrial facilities and accommodate the site’s ongoing development and future expansion.
The works required coordination with equipment manufacturers, building contractors and site management to integrate electrical infrastructure with the operational requirements of a large earthmoving and asphalt production business.
The project was undertaken across multiple stages to accommodate the development and changing operational requirements of the CORPS Earthmoving facility.
KEG was responsible for developing electrical solutions suited to the significant power demands of the site, including the distribution requirements of asphalt production equipment, workshop machinery, pumping systems and supporting facilities.
A key component was the design and construction of the site’s main electrical distribution system, providing a central supply arrangement from which individual operational areas could be connected and expanded.
The project required detailed planning of underground cable routes, switchboard locations, equipment connections and electrical load requirements, together with coordination of specialist plant installations and construction activities.
KEG’s involvement extended beyond conventional electrical installation, incorporating electrical design, equipment selection, custom switchboard arrangements, industrial power distribution and coordination with machinery suppliers.
KEG delivered a comprehensive electrical infrastructure network supporting the development and operation of the CORPS Earthmoving industrial facility.
The installation provides power distribution across a diverse range of industrial activities, from high-demand asphalt production equipment and heavy vehicle workshops through to offices, fuel storage, truck washing, pumping systems and essential site services.
The staged design-and-construct approach allowed electrical infrastructure to be integrated with the site’s development while providing distribution capacity and flexibility for future operational requirements.
The project demonstrates KEG’s capability to deliver complex industrial electrical installations, combining high-capacity power distribution, specialist equipment integration and complete electrical construction services within a large-scale operational facility.
